Information on returns from Brazil
« on: September 19, 2011, 06:59:37 AM »
My lawyer in my case is been pressured by my Dad to supply us with the history of successful cases of returns of children from Brazil TO THE USA under the Hague.

M lawyer is claiming to have worked on SUCCESSFUL cases of return for the State Department to the US in the past. She cannot tell me the names though and she told me to contact the State Department for specifics. I have never been told by the State Department of any successful return or visitation agreement that has been fulfilled by Brasil. (The two under process now not withstanding with Mr. Pate and Mr. Sanchez)

Does anyone have ANY information to show that ANY child has EVER been successfully returned to the US. Anyone?

Other than Sean Goldman?  A child returned to the US from Brazil by an enforced judicial order?  No.  I can't think of anyone, though Tim knows a lot of the Brazil specific history much better than I do.

Lawyers can lie and fudge the numbers significantly because the US State Dept. does the same.  It's very hard to pin down what accurate numbers are or what they really mean even when you have them.  It's a perverted game that the Office of Children's Issues plays to make it look like they're actually doing something, the situation is not anywhere near as bleak as it actually is and to provide cover for our treaty partners non-compliance against the legitimate complaints of American parents.

There have been a few, but so far, none that I am aware of with criteria that match the typical LBP. For example, in David's case, the mother died. In Alessandra Oliveira's case and another woman in Massachusetts (I don't remember her name), the LBP was a mother with Brazilian citizenship. Dr. Lamego once told me on the phone that there were some successful returns, though she wouldn't give me any names. The State Department stated to another LBP that 3 children returned through court orders last year from Brazi though again, wouldn't give any namesl. Without names, I don't believe any of it.

Thank you gentlemen. I didn't believe my lawyer when I read it, my father who knows very little about all of the history of the Hague didn't believe it when he read it either.
