 :yeahthat
I highly recommend that everyone takes the time to listen to what Rep. Barney Frank had to say about this

Also, for all of you LBPs who have had trouble garnering support from your elected officials, you'll appreciate Amb Jacobs comments at 1:51. She actually tells Rep. Smith that OCI encourages LBPs to contact their elected officials when their child is abducted, as if that is such an easy thing for them to do
.

Yes,  that was one of my favorite parts too.   They will not contact our representatives but we are welcome to do so.  That was just as realistic and helpful as all the other things she encouraged parents to  do for a successful return of their children.

I just watched Susan Jacobs testimony. All she did was kick the can down the road and pass the buck to Congress. Although I do support any efforts the State Dept is doing, it is going to take policy and law changes to make a difference. Having these hearings is nothing more than bringing awareness to the issue.

WELL I'M SORRY BUT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR OVER 30 YEARS PEOPLE OF GOVERNMENT. IT'S TIME TO STOP KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD AND DO WHAT REP. FRANK SAID. NOBODY CARES IF THESE COUNTRIES GET MAD AT US. TAKE A STAND WITH THESE COUNTIES THAT ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE TREATY TO THE LETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

deadhorse
like the Irish CA say.  Their not in America any longer ,this is under Irish Law.  Oh wait, OUR state Dept. OCI officer told me that too.
Ummmnmm. ,can you say "paper tiger? " ummmm, no.
our Dept of State is not even that.  They don't even "try "to make these countries not abiding to their obligations to follow the strict guidelines of the Hague treaty they signed. Our Country is just plain ignored and are called idiots.  Even by Irish Dept. Of Justice said  " Why should we press it any further, your own CA wont even help you or us in this trial. " finally after I heard this and went above my CA head and mentioned to others higher up OR faxed to them to FORWARD, did they (DOS) do ANYTHING! And because of this I will most likely NEVER see my son again.

Behind this smile is something only we LBP understand.
