I want to see a tweet that states "XX children returned and reunited with their lawful parent today."  Now that would be worth tweeting about.  I don't really care who she met with and what she thinks.  Success is not defined by meetings, success is defined by returned children, so please tweet some successes or don't tweet at all.

Lets hear some tweets about meetings on why treaty countries are not returning our children as outlined in the Hague Convention and what were doing to convince them to do so.
Behind this smile is something only we LBP understand.
May God be with ALL our children.

I think that sounds like an excellent idea, as does the one about tweeting when an abducted child is returned. Now that's something to cheer about, working group meetings are not.

Thanks for posting these. They were interesting to read. However, I think it would be more applicable to conclude the tweets with what Paul said, such as adding no children were returned today to their lawful parent at the end of just about every tweet since it seems to be a rare occurrence rather than the norm. I will say that I should cease being surprised by them stating their party line everywhere, including in tweets as everyone here knows that the idea of 'we are doing everything we can to convince the XX government to resolve something' isn't accurate. However, as they stated it in regards to adoption and not abduction, perhaps they actually do something for adoptions.

I can't recall who it was, but didn't one of the parents here have their child enrolled in the Child Passport Issuance Alert Program and was not notified? Perhaps adding how many passports were rejected due to that would be useful at the end of a tweet as I imagine it would be close to zero if not zero. Why try to get a US passport when you can go to the nearest consulate and have them create passports for your dual citizenship child against a court order...

I had Dylan enrolled in the Passport Issuance Alert Program because his step father was deported for illegal entry and some investigations from the US a yr earlier and I could not find him, his brother, or his Mother.
My sister had confided in me that her and Dylans mother were involved in a meth amphetimine dealer and got in an arguement and took off to another city and also the reason I wasnt allowed to see Dylan ( I might find out she was on drugs)The meth dealer I found out thru an investivator was known for all 3 degrees of domestic assault and that she still had contact with the Ireland nationalist and sending him money made by the Drug dealings.
At this knowledge and not able to find my son and him not enrolled in any school, I enrolled him in the passport alert program and called local govt and law officials to tell them he was missing.
Even with him in this Passport Alert program and on Missouri State Police Missing persons internet site,  I WAS STILL NOT ALERTED!
As odd as this is I want all to know I have no felony record or and domestic abuse record,  there was no reason for them to keep this information from me.
Behind this smile is something only we LBP understand.
May God be with ALL our children.

Ambassador Susan S. Jacobs posted comments on Dipnote on May 25 and has invited comments from the public.  To encourage a meaningful dialogue with the ambassador, BSH supporters are cautioned to be respectful when expressing opinions and state facts accurately.  Ultimately, we want the Dept of State to cooperate with efforts to reform the system.

Helping Children Around the World Come Home

Posted by Susan Jacobs / May 25, 2011
Ambassador Susan Jacobs meets with Brazilian Central Authority officials on May 19, 2011.

Ambassador Susan S. Jacobs serves as Special Advisor on Children's Issues at the U.S. Department of State.

National Missing Children's Day on May 25 provides an opportunity to reflect on how the United States government works to prevent international parental child abduction. Secretary Clinton recorded a message to commemorate National Missing Children's Day and the Department(tm)s other efforts to assist families in cases of international parental child abduction. You may view it here.

As Special Advisor for Children's Issues, I engage with foreign government officials on the issues of intercountry adoption and international parental child abduction. I strive to protect the welfare and interests of children by increasing the number of abducted children returned to their parents, strengthening legal safeguards and developing international relationships to resolve current abduction cases and prevent future ones.

Last week, I discussed with Brazilian officials ways to speed the reunification of left-behind parents with their children. I urged Brazil to hasten their efforts to resolve these difficult abduction cases in a timely manner through the Hague Process. We agreed to establish a working group to focus on international children's issues, and will convene our first meeting this summer. Our efforts with Brazil illustrate the State Department's global commitment to protect children and reunify families. It's my hope that we might all contribute to this mission in some way.

As Secretary Clinton said, "On this National Missing Children's Day, let's continue to stand up, speak out, and do our part to keep our most vulnerable citizens safe. And let's help children around the world come home."

If you or someone you know is a left-behind parent, or would like to discuss preventing an international abduction with our office, we urge you to contact us toll free at 1-888-407-4747or via e-mail at askci@state.gov.

Please visit our website, join us on Facebook and continue the conversation on Twitter: @ChildrensIssues.

Since my post here there have been 2 more comments on the Dipnote blog-- one by Gary W in MO and one by Noan's Dad.  This is an opportunity for every member of BSH, especially LBP's, to appeal directly to Ambassador Jacobs.
Tell her what you think, ask any questions you like, but be respectful.

Hot off the press... I even started a new thread on this:

OCI via Susan Jacobs bragging on Twitter about all the WISDOM on child abduction that they have at a "delegation" meeting.  Too bad she no-showed Rep. Smith's hearing the other day.  Having parties patting themselves on the back with our money... nice use of time and resources!

Well she did say that she had a busy day but would try to watch a replay of the hearing! And I don't think they will no-show the next hearing when they are called to testify. The question is will Amb Jacobs show up herself or send one of her underlings to make a statement and take the fire? I'm also very curious to see who else is called to testify. It should be an interesting next couple of weeks.

Here a tweet from someone else at the Hague meeting.

Quote
@FindTheKids Catherine Meyer
Special Commission: too many countries praise their own systems. Too few want to learn from their mistakes. PACT's campaign goes on.

Lady Meyer is the founder of PACT (Parents & Abducted Children Together), co-founder of NCMEC and a treasurer of the UK Conservative Party. (Side note: Ernie Allen is a PACT Board Member)
