Brazilian Courts and the World Cup
« on: July 02, 2010, 12:49:24 PM »
Very interesting situation in Brazil:

According to my lawyer:

Em 31/05 entrei com a petição. (I presented writ to the court)
Em 07/06 foi ao promotor e ele concordou com a citação no endereço que forneci. (it went to the prosecutor and he agreed with the summons at the address that I provided)
Em 18/06 o juiz autorizou. (the judge (court) authorised it)

So, I'm wondering what happened between the writ being presented in the first place January, the court shaking me down for more money and these events above?

Perhaps now that Brazil are out of the World Cup, the courts will get back to work...or is that too much to hope for?

Thanks Dunga and  Hija Holland!!!!

I'm in Brazil now and everything closes on the day of a game. Now that they are out, the country can get back to business (not that it means much).

Yeah. I know. I guess that they'll be off a bit longer celebrating Argentina's defeat now...
