Members of the House of Rep. Facebook Pages
« on: February 18, 2010, 07:37:18 PM »
I hope it is all right to start this as a new topic but I'm hoping we can post
the URL of Facebook pages for the Members of  the House of Rep.

So far I have come up with a few and have posted on their wall as well. I'll
add more as I get the time.
If your Rep has a Facebook page that does allow posting, please add the URL
to my list along with their name and State.

We can add posting on their walls as another weapon in our arsenal.
Pam

I had time to dig up some more Facebook pages of US Reps. that we can post one and
have listed them below. When I get some time, I'll see about digging up some more but
this will at least give us some US Reps that we can work on.

I did find out that Jerry Nadler's Facebook page doesn't have any
way for posting even if you become a fan. Also, here is the correct URL or link for Louise
Slaughter.http://www.facebook.com/pages/Louise-Slaughter/#!/pages/Louise-Slaughter/82424647700?ref=ts

So far, I have posted a comment on the following Facebook pages. I really hope that everyone who reads
this post will do likewise. Remember you don't have to be a constituent and perhaps the more comments
posted on their Facebook pages asking for support of H. R. 3240, the more it might make them consider
cosponsoring.
Pages I posted on.

Pam,

Great job!

Please, add this House of Rep. to your list:

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL)

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rep-Debbie-Wasserman-Schultz/88904724121?ref=mf

She's my representative and she hasn't co-sponsored any of the proposed HR's that would help the LBP.  :madgo

I found out today she has a Facebook page. If email's and faxes haven't done the trick, maybe Facebook will...

I just posted on her Facebook page and I agree, if emails and faxes don't work, we must use their Facebook pages as another means of getting through to them.

Is anyone starting to post on the Facebook pages besides phillyone and myself?

Thanks M.

I'd like to get more together and compile one list in one post so there aren't a dozen lists posted but for some reason
there isn't a "modify" option in the original post after someone replies to that post. Are mods and admin's the only
ones who can edit posts after they've been replies two? It would be nice to have just one post with all the links.

I'm not on facebook, but perhaps someone who is could post this information on the BSH facebook page? Perhaps it is already there and I just don't know since I am not on facebook. But, I must say I am quite impressed that one Congressman was willing to co-sponsor based upon a facebook post. Perhaps his office has been told about the bill before, but regardless of if a facebook post pushed him over the top to sponsor or was the first time someone heard of the bill (outside of Smith's dear colleague letter), I'm glad it worked!!  :biggrin

UD student.

I'm hoping the Facebook approach will work better than letters. It may or may not work but it
is another way of being heard. I'm also thinking of looking into Twitter as well.
I am currently working on updating my list and making them into hyperlinks so we
don't have the long URLs to deal with. Once I get it finished, I'll post it and also see
how to post it on Facebook.

I'm just happy that Mike Turner and Maurice Hinchey are saying they will cosponsor.

www.tweetcongress.org does a great job of tracking congressmen/women who tweet. I've not been able to find anything similar for Facebook, which is why the work that Pam's doing in the cataloging of Facebook pages for these folks is so great.

If my count is correct, Hinchey makes #31 for co-sponsors.

If any BSHF members have a particular member of Congress that we need to work on, send me
their name and State and I will see if they have a Facebook page. Send it to me via
email or private message. If you do send an email, please put BSHF in the subject
line so I'll know to read it. I am known to go days without reading email. <SIGH>
