I am sending out letters to these key polticians today, and the next day, and the day after that.

Lastly - David, there are many prayers across the world going out for you and Sean. When I got my son home - regardless of all the attempts of parental alienation that were forced on him - he said "Father, I always knew you loved me." I am certain Sean feels the same way.

I also wanted to add that I for one think it is time we start putting all of our focus and energy back into helping other LBP get their children returned, and no time worrying about what this Brazilian family is going to say next. We have a lot of work up ahead this new year. Lets get back to what we do best and start writing letters and making phone calls people :)

I have been a member here since before these boards were forums & it was a blog.  In all that time we have had a STRONG Canadian presence.  There are ppl here from all over the world who helped from their computers to write Brazil & US for Sean & David.  I am happy to write to Canadian & Brazilian ppl to help you Francois.  I have know of your plight for sometime now & want to express my compassion to you for this horrible ordeal.  I hope you will be reunited soon.

AGREED......While Dave's story is truly fascinating and we are all so passionate about it, we need to strike while the iron is hot and get some more momentum going..........

The politicians and media will forget about this soon if we don't take advantage of the awareness............

Like I said, TWO Hague returns from Brazil w/ different sets of circumstances would lead to 3-4-5-6-7-8-9 and so on.....:cheer:

CanDad, we were afraid that Sean's case would become bogged down at the STJ like it happen to you. Fortunately, they kick-it up to the STF and that backfired on them and Sean is now home. Your case should not languish at the STJ any further. Brazil got the message. The President of the STF and the AGU were clear about the Hague. You should get your child asap, there is no basis for Brazil to keep your child after the recent developments.

Question: how much of an impact the Goldman case had in the Canadian media?

Question2: Shouldn't David give an interview to the Canadian tv?

Thanks to all of you... Maybe a Main Thread could be made for all LBP and my suggestion would be like having a "table" describing the chronology of events like the one sent by jl2saint for me

Another question I would have is how much of Dave's ruling can your attorney use?

I know it would be hard to get an "emergency" hearing like Dave did, but is it possible? If not, then when Febuary hits you should be #1 on the docket. If I remember correctly, weren't you supposed to get a ruling the day after Dave? Then it got pushed to that Friday? Then not heard at all? :conf:

Tanx for your comments and input... much appreciated

Q1 : For what I know the Goldman case was not covered at all in Canada (only people watching american channels are aware of).  But, I'm sure canadian medias will talk about it in the next few days (especially after the NBC Dateline 2 hour edition of January 8).

Q2 : That for sure would help.  The two most important channels in Canada are CTV (http://www.ctv.ca) and Global (http://www.globaltv.com)

In December 2007 I went to Toronto and they made a complete 2 page story in The National Post.  I wrote to this journalist 3 days ago to tell her about the result in the Goldman case.  I'm waiting for her to answer...

I guess the judge who was supposed to rule for my case the friday before X-Mass waited to know the result for the Goldman case ... JMO

Emails sent.  Hopefully we can build on the momentum of David's case and keep hammering at Brazil (and others) to send these kids home.

I just think that if Canada would join USA it would surely put more pressure on Brazil to respect the Hague Convention and apply it correctly... It's not normal that it takes 5 years to return a child and that is causing psychological damages to children.
Francois Larivee

Perhaps we could have Chris Smith's office contact someone in Canada to get this rolling?

Below is a direct link to your case:

There isn't much information in there because there hasn't been a lot put into the media.  Hopefully we can change that soon!
"Every parent who has a child and they tuck him in at night, or her in at night, and they wish the best and only the best and they will always protect the child and do whatever they can, but most of the time they don't have to prove it. I'm in the proving grounds, to myself and to my child.  I have to get him home and I will do whatever I have to. I'll never stop to save him."  --David Goldman

Maybe we can email the Canadian TV channels and tell them there is a Canadian in the same situation as David Goldman was in and send them the links to all of the NBC videos. How can we make the Canadian media aware that this is not just an American issue but a Canadian one as well?
