Dearest Sage,
We would have given anything to have you here with us for this holiday season. Your father, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother have all missed you and think of you often. We tried to call to Mexico to wish you a merry Christmas and find out how you were but after the first call rang without answer all other calls went directly to your mother’s cell phone’s voicemail. We think of you every day and fiercely guard our memories of you in our hearts against the ravages of time and those who would see them fade by not allowing them to be renewed.
Like the last Christmas season we expect we will receive no news, pictures or information about how you have celebrated this year. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing we tell ourselves that you are surrounded by other parts of your family that, in their own way, also love you. Even if we can’t see it for ourselves we know that every day you grow stronger, smarter and bigger. We wish we could guide you through these times and help you put them into the proper perspective but an unjust world has denied us that natural right. Never believe that we wanted it this way or that we failed to do everything we could think of to change the way this holiday has passed.
We wish you all the best this Christmas and will continue to hope, pray and fight to keep you from being isolated from of us for yet another Christmas.
With Love,
Dad and Family
